Our research is focused on the supramolecular assembly and polymer thin films. Inspired by self-organization in nature, we have been focusing on design and synthesis of new building blocks that are able to self-assemble in solution and interface. Different interfacial assembling methods are developed for low dimensional architectures. Moreover, AFM-based single molecule force spectroscopy is employed to reveal the supramolecular structures and to understand the driving forces of self-assembly on the basis of cooperativity of various intermolecular interactions. It is anticipated that the gap between polymer science and supramolecular science can be bridged, thus leading to development of molecular engineering of supramolecular systems that creates unusual chemical and physical properties in solution, in bulk and at interfaces. |
