Dec. 11th to Dec. 13th, 2020, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with Dr. Peng Sun and Dr. Bo Qin, attended the 1st Reversible Cross-Linked Polymer Symposium held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. During the meeting, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave an invited lecture titled "Recyclable Cross-Linked Supramolecular Polyureas". Dr. Bo Qin also demonstrated his works related to recyclable cross-linked supramolecular polyureas though poster, and was awarded the Best Poster Award.
Oct. 9th to Oct. 12th, 2020, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with Dr. Bin Yuan, Bohan Tang and Zihe Yin, attended the CCS 2nd Photofunctional Materials Symposium for Young Scholars held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. During the meeting, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave an invited lecture titled "Near Infrared Dyes based on Supramolecular Radicals". Dr. Bin Yuan gave an oral lecture titled " Self-Degradable Supramolecular Photosensitizer with High Photodynamic Therapeutic Efficiency and Improved Safety". Bohan Tang and Zihe Yin demonstrated their works related to near infrared dyes based on supramolecular radicals and dissipative supramolecular polymerization powered by light though posters, respectively. Bohan Tang was awarded the Materials Chemistry Frontiers Best Poster Award.
Jun. 20th, 2020, Dr. Bin Yuan accomplished his defense of postdoctoral report successfully online. Members of the defense committee fully recognized Dr. Bin Yuan’s research related to novel photodynamic therapeutic strategies based on BODIPY derivatives. They also discussed the prospect and future plan of his research. Congratulations to Dr. Bin Yuan, and wish him all the best!
May 16th, 2020, Xiaoyan Tang, Yuchong Yang and Bo Qin accomplished their defenses of the requirement for the degree of PhD. Xiaoyan Tang’s, Yuchong Yang’s and Bo Qin’s research focus on supramolecular catalysis, antibacterial supramolecular materials and quadruple hydrogen bond-based supramolecular polymers, respectively. Members of the defense committee showed great interest on their excellent works and fully recognized their works. Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the defense meeting was hold both at Room 310, Hetian Building, Tsinghua University and online. Some teachers and students attended the defense meeting at Room 310, and others participated in the meeting online. Congratulations to Xiaoyan Tang, Yuchong Yang and Bo Qin!

Nov. 9th, 2019, Prof. Peng Zheng from Nanjing University, China, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture titled “Investigations of Metalloproteins by Single Molecule Force Spectroscopy”.
Oct. 16th to 19th, 2019, Prof. Xi Zhang and Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with many postdoctoral fellow and PhD students, attended the 2019 Polymer Division (CCS) Congress held in Xi’an, China. Prof. Xi Zhang served as the chairman of the conference and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony, respectively. He also gave a lecture titled "Chemistry in Stamps" in Polymer Education Chapter. Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave an invited lecture titled "New Methods for Controllable Supramolecular Polymerization" in Macromolecular Self-assembly and Supramolecular Systems Chapter. Dr. Hua Wang gave an oral lecture titled “Supramolecular Peptide: a Platform for Chemotherapeutic Drug Delivery” in Biomedical Polymer Chapter. All PhD students demonstrated their works though posters. Xiaoyan Tang was awarded the Best Poster Award, and Zihe Yin was awarded the CCS Chemistry Best Poster Award.
Sept. 9th, 2019, Prof. Thomas Hermans from the University of Strasbourg, France, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture titled “Dissipative Supramolecular Systems and Materials”.
Jun. 23rd, 2019, Yincheng Chang and Yuetong Kang accomplished their defences of postdoctoral reports successfully. Members of the defense committee fully recognized Yincheng Chang’s research related to charge-reversal amphiphiles with cancer cell-selective membrane-disrupting activity and Yuetong Kang’s research related to the supramolecularly catalyzed polymerization based on cucurbit[8]uril and stilbazolium dyes. They also discussed the prospect and future plan of their research. Best wishes to Dr. Yincheng Chang and Dr. Yuetong Kang!
Jun. 2nd to Jun. 7th, 2019, Yuchong Yang and Bohan Tang attended the 14th International Symposium on Functional π-Electron Systems held in Berlin, Germany. During the meeting, they demonstrated their works though posters. Yuchong Yang’s poster is related to supramolecular stabilized radical anion for photothermal anti-bacterial therapy, and Bohan Tang’s poster is related to supramolecular activated radical cation.
June 2nd, 2019, Linghui Chen and Lingda Zeng accomplished their defences of the requirement for the degree of PhD. Linghui Chen’s and Lingda Zeng’s research focus on photodynamic antibacterial and charge-reversal systems respectively. Members of the defense committee showed great interest on their excellent works and fully recognized their works.
May 19th to May 24th, 2019, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with Dr. Bin Yuan, Shuai Zhang and Zihe Yin, attended the 2019 Self-Assembly and Supramolecular Chemistry, Gordon Research Conference held in Les Diablerets, Switzerland. During the meeting, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, Dr. Bin Yuan, Shuai Zhang and Zihe Yin demonstrated their works though posters. Their posters are related to supramolecular interfacial polymerization, tumor photodynamic therapy, supramolecular emulsion interfacial polymerization, and dissipative supramolecular polymerization, respectively.
May 10th, 2019, the joint seminar between our group and the research groups of Prof. Junqi Sun, Prof. Wenke Zhang, Prof. Bo Zou, and Prof. Liyan Wang from Jilin University was held in Jilin University, China. Prof. Xi Zhang and Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with other postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and undergraduates, attended the joint seminar. Prof. Wenke Zhang gave opening remarks at the beginning of the joint seminar. Bo Qin, Xiaoyan Tang, and Yuchong Yang from our group, together with Siheng Li, Zhiwei Ma, and Zhandong Li from Jilin University made oral reports. Prof. Xi Zhang and Prof. Liyan Wang summarized respectively. Prof. Xi Zhang said that the joint seminar promoted communication and cooperation between different research groups, and would continue to be held in the future.
Apr. 22nd to Apr. 26th, 2019, Dr. Yincheng Chang and Han Wu attended the 2019 MRS Spring Meeting held in Phoenix, the United States. During the meeting, they mainly focused on the Supramolecular Biomaterials for Regenerative Medicine and Drug Delivery Section. They also demonstrated their works though posters. Dr. Yincheng Chang’s poster is related to anticancer charge-reversal amphiphile, and Han Wu’s poster is related to supramolecular polymeric chemotherapy.

Dec. 19th, 2018, Prof. Karen Wooley from Taxas A&M University, the United States, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture titled “Expanding the Scopes of Synthetic Organic and Polymer Chemistries: Utilization of the Inherent Stereochemical and Functional Diversities of Natural Products to Produce Functional Polymer Materials Designed for Advanced Applications and Sustainability”.

May 29th, 2018, Prof. Christian Salesse from Laval University, Canada, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture titled “Photochemistry of vision”.
May 25th, 2018, Zehuan Huang and Yang Jiao accomplished their defences of the requirement for the degree of PhD.
May 5th to 8th, 2018, Prof. Xi Zhang and Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with other postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and undergraduates, attended the 31st Chinese Chemical Society Congress held in Hangzhou, China. Prof. Xi Zhang delivered a speech on behalf of the National Natural Science Foundation of China on the opening ceremony, and he also gave a lecture titled “Supramolecular Chemotherapy” on the Chemistry-An Innovation Forum. Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave an invited lecture titled "Supramolecular Interfacial Polymerization" in Supramolecular Self-assembly and Soft Materials Chapter. Many postdoctoral fellows and PhD students demonstrated their works though posters, and Yang Jiao and Yuchong Yang were awarded the Best Poster Award.
Apr. 20th, 2018, Prof. Xin-Yuan Liu from Southern University of Science and Technology, China, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture about “Radical-Mediated Asymmetric Reactions”.

Dec. 10th to 14th, 2017, Prof. Xi Zhang and Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu, together with all students, attended the 15th Pacific Polymer Conference (PPC-15) held in Xiamen, China. Prof. Xi Zhang served as chairman of the conference. Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave an invited lecture titled "Controllable Supramolecular Polymerization: From Solution to Interface". Dr. Hao Chen, Dr. Yuetong Kang, Zehuan Huang and Bo Qin demonstrated their works though posters, and Zehuan Huang was awarded the ACS Omega Best Poster Award.
Dec. 9th, 2017, Tsinghua Polymer Symposium was held in the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University. Six famous scholars from research institutes around the world, including Stephen Z. D. Cheng, David Haddleton, Francoise Winnik, Mitsuo Sawamoto, Timothy P. Lodge and Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, attended the symposium. Prof. Xi Zhang presided over the symposium and delivered opening remarks. Ten speakers were invited to give lectures related to research frontiers of polymer science. Prof. Stephen Z. D. Cheng made a brilliant summary of the symposium in his closing remarks. Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu gave a wonderful lecture entitled "Supramolecular Interfacial Polymerization". All the students in our group joined the symposium and served as volunteers.
Oct. 16th 2017, Tsinghua-US Polymer Symposium was held in Tsinghua University. The symposium was organized by Prof. Huaping Xu and 14 lectures were delivered by the professors from American Chemical Society and Tsinghua University. Prof. Xi Zhang attended the symposium and gave opening remarks. Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu made a report about “Controllable Supramolecular Polymerization: From in Solutions to at Interfaces”. All the members joined the symposium and served as volunteers.
Sep. 16th 2017, the final reports for the program of “Chemistry of molecular assemblies: Construction and dynamic regulation of hierarchical functional assemblies”, the National Basic Research Program (973), was held. Prof. Xi Zhang, the chief scientist of this program, hosted the meeting. Collaborative research groups from Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jilin University, Institute of Chemistry, CAS and Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS, gave reports on their research progress.
Aug. 28th 2017, 3rd Tsinghua-Bristol Joint Symposium on “Frontiers of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology” was held in Tsinghua University. During the symposium, 18 lectures were given by the professors and students from Tsinghua University and University of Bristol, UK. Prof. Xi Zhang served as the chair of Session 1. Zehuan Huang made a report about “Supramolecular Chemotherapy: Decreased Cytotoxicity and Enhanced Activity of Antitumor Drugs by Host-Guest Chemistry”. All the members joined the symposium and served as volunteers.
Jul. 2nd – 6th 2017, Prof. Xi Zhang, Dr. Jiang-Fei Xu and Zehuan Huang, Yang Jiao, Lingda Zeng, Linghui Chen, Bo Qin, Yuchong Yang attended the 12th International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISMSC-12) held in Cambridge, UK. Prof. Xi Zhang gave a plenary lecture about “Supramolecular free radicals”.

Mar. 27th 2017, Prof. Fengwei Huo from Nanjing Tech University visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture about “Parallel Scanning Optical Microscopy (PSOM)”.

Prof. Xi Zhang was honored with Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award (2016).
Oct. 21th 2016, the joint seminar was held between our group and the research group of Prof. Shu Wang from Institute of Chemistry, CAS. During the seminar, Prof. Xi Zhang and Prof. Shu Wang gave wonderful opening remarks about the importance of communications and collaborations. Qiao Song, Zehuan Huang, Yang Jiao from our group and Haotian Bai, Han Sun, Lingyun Zhou from Shu Wang’s Group made oral reports on their research works.

Dec. 15th to 20th 2015, Prof. Xi Zhang and Zehuan Huang, Linghui Chen attended the International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies 2015 held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Prof. Xi Zhang gave two lectures about “Molecular self-sorting for controllable suprapolymerization” and “Supra-amphiphiles: From molecular architectures to functions”, respectively.
Dec. 9th to 13th 2015, Prof. Xi Zhang and Zehuan Huang attended the 14th Pacific Polymer Conference held in Kauai Island, Hawaii, USA. During the conference, Prof. Xi Zhang gave a plenary lecture about “Controllable suprapolymerization” and was elected as new president of Pacific Polymer Federation.
Nov. 19th 2015, Prof. Rint Sijbesma, from Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture about “Mechanofunctional polymers: Luminescent probes & Catalytic triggers”.
Nov. 7th 2015, the joint seminar was held among our group, the research group of Prof. Huaping Xu, Tsinghua University, and the research group of Prof. Yapei Wang, Renmin University of China. During the seminar, Prof. Xi Zhang gave a wonderful lecture about “The story behind the discovery of Qinghaosu” for a brief introduction of 2015 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. Yang Jiao, Zhen Wang, Yonglin He, Linghui Chen and Xinyue Zhang made oral reports on their research works.

June 22th, 2011, 50 Years Angewandte Chemie International Edition Symposium was held in Tsinghua University. Prof. Xi Zhang made an opening speech and gave a lecture about “ Superamphiphiles for Controlled Self-Assembly and Disassembly ”. Dr. Huaping Xu served as secretary of the symposium. All the group members joined this symposium and served as volunteers, Dr. Chao Wang was awarded the best poster paper of the conference.

Dr. Huaping Xu et al. have reported the selective load and transfer of positively charged functional species using a surface molecular imprinted layer-by-layer film attached to PDMS stamps (SMILbL-PDMS). This work was published on Advanced Materials (2010, 22, 2689), and Highlighted by NPG Asia Materials titled by“Surface printing: Stamp of approval”.
Sep. 6th, 2010, the joint seminar between our group and the research group of Dr. Zhibo Li, Institute of Chemistry, CAS were held at Room 406, Hetian building.
In Aug. 11th-15th, 2010, Dr. Huaping Xu joined third Sino-German Frontiers of Chemistry Symposium at Kloster Seeon, Germany, which was first initiated by German Chemical Society (GDCh) and Chinese Chemical Society (CCS). After this main symposium, Dr. Huaping Xu and 6 other Chinese delegates joined the Satellite Meeting-Materials Chemistry at Konstanz from Aug. 15th to 17th.
In July 18th-21th, 2010, Prof. Zhang took part in 13th International Conference on Organized Molecular Films (LB13), which was hold in Quebec City, Canada. Prof. Zhang gave a report as an invited speaker and was selected to be on the International advisory committee of Organized Molecular Films.
July 9th-31st, 2010, Steffen Kanzler, a PhD student from University of Müenster, Germany, stayed in our group for three weeks, to carry out an investigation on the collaboration between researchers from China and Germany in the TRR61 joint project.
June 24th, 2010, “China-UK workshop on frontiers of supramolecular chemistry” was held in 406 Meeting Hall of Hetian building. The work shop was coorganized by Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK and the department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University.
Prof. Zhang was awarded the Akzo-Nobel chemical prize of CCS in June 20th, when he took part in the 27th Chinese Chemical Society Annual Meeting & Exposition, 2010,Xiamen.

Oct. 26th-31st, 2009, “US-China Workshop for Early Career Chemical Scientists-SUPRAMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY” was held at Tsinghua University. Prof. Xi Zhang gave a talk about “Supramolecular Amphiphiles for Controlled Self-assembly and Disassembly”.
Oct 14th, 2009, Prof. Takashi Kato from Tokyo University visited Department of Chemistry.
Oct. 5th-7th, 2009, the Second International TRR 61 Symposium was held at University of Münster, Germany. Some of our group members attended the symposium and Prof. Xi Zhang gave an invited talk about “How to realize controlled self-assembly and disassembly”. Consequently, a workshop of the German and Chinese students was also organized.
On Oct. 8th, Prof. Xi Zhang, Dr. Huaping Xu and 9 Ph. D. students visited MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, University of Twente, the Netherlands, where a joint symposium was held together with four groups from Twente (MnF, SMCT, MTP, BNT).
The Paper about Redox Responsive Supramolecular Amphiphiles was selected as Hot Article by Chemical Communications.
Sept.2nd, Prof. Marie-Paule Pileni (University of Pierre & Marie Curie, France) visited our lab and gave a lecture.
Sep. 1st , Prof. Alexander (Sasha) V. Kabanov (University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA) visited our lab and gave a lecture.
Aug. 18th to 22nd, in the National Polymer Symposium of China, Prof. Xi was awarded “Prize for Honored Invited Lecture in Polymer Science” and invited to give a plenary lecture of “Molecular Self-Assembly and Ordered Thin Film”.
Aug. 10th to 17th, 2009, the summer school about “Chemistry beyond Molecular Level: Molecular Self-Assembly and Biological Simulation” was held in Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University.
July 17th to 21st, 2009, Prof. Wim Dehaen (KULeuven, Belgium) visited our lab and gave a lecture.
June 12th, four group members, Bo Song, Yugui Jiang, Yapei Wang, Senlin Chen got promoted in their PhD defense.
May 27th, Prof. James S. Nowick (University of California at Irvine, USA) visited Department of Chemistry and gave a lecture.
In the end of March, 2009, some professors from US and Europe--T. Bronich (USA), H. Fuchs (Germany), J. Huskens (the Netherlands) visited our lab and gave a lecture to the department. Many our group members introduced their work to them and got lots of helpful suggestions.
The Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) announced the list of Young Chemist Award winners at Jan. 20th, 2009. Our senior group member, Dr. Shuxun Cui is honored to be one of them.Dr. Cui got his PhD degree in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Xi Zhang.

From Dec. 7st to Dec. 11th, 2008, Prof. Xi Zhang went to Germany, to presented at the startup of the German-Chinese Transregio Program, "Multilevel Molecular Assemblies: Structure, Dynamics and Functions" held in University of Münster.
Nov. 28th, 2008, the midterm panel view for the program of "chemistry of molecular assembly system – self-assembly of molecules and function of assembly system", the National Basic Research Program (973), was held in Wenjin International hotel.
Nov.11th, 2008, Prof. E. W. Meijer (Bert) (Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands) visited our lab and gave a lecture about "The non-covalent synthesis of supramolecular systems" at Room 406 of Hetian building.
Oct.30th, 2008, Prof. Alexander V. Kabanov (University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA) visited our lab and gave a lecture about “Block Ionomer Complexes for Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery”.
Oct.27th, 2008, Prof. Joseph DeSimone (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,USA) visited our lab and gave a lecture about “Complex Particles and Patterned Surfaces: Opportunities in Life and Materials Science”.
Oct.13th, 2008, ACS Langmuir Symposium was held at Department of Chemistry. Prof. David G. Whitten (Editor of Langmuir, University of New Mexico, USA) and Prof. Kirk S. Schanze (Editor of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, University of Florida, USA) gave an introduc-tion about the two journals.
